World of Warcraft Armory for Android: Daily App Pick

BreakingModern — You know World of Warcraft. That multiplayer online role playing game (MMORPG) is totally fun — but it’s also a huge time sink. You don’t play a MMORPG so much as live it. That’s why, like for any time-intensive activity in your life, you need tools for effective World of Warcraft management, especially if you’re on the go.

Such is the beauty of World of Warcraft Armory for Android, free on Google Play.  And I’m selecting World of Warcraft Armory for Android as today’s daily app pick. Here’s why.

Peering in

World of Warcraft Armory for Android The Armory app gives you a way to peer into the World of Warcraft game world without actually logging into the game itself. Amory lets you view the profiles of your characters, manage your in game auctions and chat with your guild members to see whether they are in the game or out. If you are a guild leader in the World of Warcraft, like me, Armory is ideal for planning guild activities inside the game like dungeon runs or raids. One of the most difficult and most frustrating aspects of trying to organize a raid is getting everyone on the same timetable. With the help of calendars and mobile chat, a guild leader can organize activities outside the game where communication with members is more efficient. One of my favorite features in Armory is its ability to research gear and other attributes for each of your characters. Obtaining better gear is a major part of all MMORPGs and the app can help you find where the armor or weapons for your character is lacking. Even more importantly, the Armory app can show you where to find that better piece of gear in the game. Often, the new armor or weapon you’re looking for is found in a certain dungeon and potentially obtained after dispatching a certain powerful dungeon lord. With that information and the World of Warcraft Armory App, you can schedule a dungeon raid with your guild to go and acquire that desired item. While completing those planning tasks in game is possible, doing so with the mobile app is happily less frustrating.

And a note on Warlords of Draenor

World of Warcraft Armory for Android

In November 2014 Activision Blizzard will release a new expansion for the World of Warcraft called Warlords of Draenor. One of the highlighted features of this new expansion is the idea of an in-game garrison, which will give players their own autonomous base of operations. After your garrison is established you will be able to hire non-player characters (followers) to perform essential tasks for you like growing food, collecting manufacturing materials, and completing quests for wealth and fame. This is going to be a new concept for the MMORPG realm and will require persistent monitoring and management — assuming you want your garrison to be successful, of course. Now, imagine being able to give orders to your garrison’s followers from your smartphone. Blizzard developers have been silent about their plans for mobile access to the Warlords of Draenor garrison system, but the beta testers have been very vocal about the potential for that kind of mobile access. I find it difficult to believe that Blizzard will not upgrade the World of Warcraft Armory app to enhance the overall mobile experience. The opportunity for interaction is just too great to ignore. I will be looking for news about mobile access to garrisons in the near future.

World of Warcraft Armory Takeaway …

Mobile access to games is an inevitable and, when you think about it, obvious trend for game publishers and gamers. Keeping gamers engaged in content is a win-win scenario. With the World of Warcraft Armory for Android app, Activision Blizzard lets players get more meaningful game interaction. That’s a good thing. If you play World of Warcraft and you have not yet tried World of Warcraft Armory for Android, you’re missing out. That’s why I’ve highlighted it as today’s daily app pick … tried the World of Warcraft Armory app, you are missing out on the full experience.

  1. It’s not really a great app, If I send a whisper to a guild mate, it tells them that I am not online. It constantly logs me out after only a minute or two. Are these things that are being fixed?

I have not experienced problems like you describe. I’ll keep my ears open for problems.
