Breaking Android Broken Down

Lollipop 5.01 Update

Are you one of the users experiencing problems with your Lollipop 5.01 update? Gotta Be Mobile has a list of five things you need to know. Everything from battery drain to Wi-Fi problems, corporate email issues, screen rotation glitches and other problems. It seems this is mostly affecting Nexus device owners.

Amazon Google Wars

Next up, Android Authority is reporting that Google has removed the main Amazon app from the Google Play store. Of course, Amazon has since replaced it with a version of the popular shopping app, sans the Amazon app store.

Here’s what we know: Back in September Amazon pushed out an update that added full access to its own app store, exploiting a little loophole re: you weren’t allowed to have apps in the app store whose primary purpose is to distribute other apps. Of course, Amazon said that the app distribution wasn’t its primary purpose, so it got away with it for a while. But, of course, it didn’t last long, and Google removed the part that said “primary,” so now it says all apps that act as app stores must be removed, regardless of primary purpose. The end result? Amazon replaced the old app with the stripped down shopping app.

The Year of Entertainment

Last up, Brian Irving, global director of marketing for Google Play, posted on the official Android blog this cool infographic detailing the most-popular stuff on Google Play from 2014. Check it out below.
