BreakingModern — You hear it at least once after every large, delicious Thanksgiving dinner: “I’m going to have to exercise twice as much tomorrow to keep the weight off.” The phrasing may be different in your family, but it will be something similar. If only losing weight was that simple.
When it gets right down to it, everyone knows how to lose weight — burn more calories than you take in. The problem is that it’s not always any easy task to accomplish. The key is to keep yourself motivated and on point and this where the Lose It! app can really help.
Of course, to accomplish this you are going to have to share some personal information — such as your current weight, what weight you would like to be, what you eat and how much you exercise. To get the most out of Lose It!, you will also have to create an account.
Once all of the preliminary information is input, you’ll be presented with the outline of your weight loss plan. The numbers I used gave me a daily calorie intake limit of 1,841. The goal is for me to lose one pound per week for 10 weeks. This is where the work begins.
Each day you’ll enter in data regarding what you eat and how much you exercise. Lose It! provides an extensive list of foods for you to choose from, but you can enter your own food items if you want. You can even enter in your own recipes.
There is also an extensive list of exercises, ranging from aerobics to Zumba. Each exercise includes parameters that you can adjust to match your actual activity. Walking three miles per hour for 30 minutes, for example, burns 110 calories.
Losing weight requires more than just counting calories. Motivation also plays a role. Lose It! helps by tying you to a social network of friends, family and peers who are also trying to lose weight. Your smartphone becomes the connection to your support network. Losing weight can be a lonely proposition, but it doesn’t have to be.
The free version of the app is supported with advertisements scattered throughout. However, the ads are not intrusive and may actually be a welcome addition because they lead to additional weight loss services. There is a premium version of Lose It! available for $3.34 per month which purportedly includes an even more comprehensive weight loss program.
Everyone knows how to lose weight, but that doesn’t make it any easier. Losing weight is not only about the goal, it’s also about the journey. Having a plan, tracking the execution of that plan and getting support from a social network of peers following their own similar journey can greatly improve your chances of success. Lose It! brings all of those aspects together in one package on your smartphone.
