Deer Hunter 2014: The Ultimate Hunting Game

BreakingModern — Hello mates. This is Puching Zhang, big game hunter, giving you a comprehensive review of a terrific new safari game. This game isn’t limited to Africa, however. Instead, you can travel around the world shooting all kinds of exotic predators and prey. That’s right, I’m talking about Deer Hunter 2014, the greatest hunting game I’ve ever played (on consoles, PCs and mobile devices).

Diverse Regions with Plenty of Game

Deer Hunter 2014 different gameFirst off, the name “Deer Hunter” is misleading in all the best ways. That’s because the player isn’t limited to hunting deer, not by a long shot. So far, I’ve hunted animals from wildebeests to wolverines (and I’m only on the fourth region of the game).

Each region is unique in its array of animals. For example, region two takes place in North Africa. That gives you the chance to hunt wildebeests, zebras and lions. (How’s that for hakuna matata?) There are 15 regions total in the current update. And that means Deer Hunter 2014 truly gives you an around-the-world experience.

I love the variety. The various landscapes and the plethora of indigenous animals make the game seem less repetitive. Also worth praising are the graphics. The landscapes are amazing and a bit surreal (especially the waterfall in South Africa, a personal favorite). The game makers at Glu didn’t skimp on exotic travel destinations, either. Hunting destinations range from the African savannah to the Himalayan mountains.

Lock and Load

For those of you who are interested in the classic aesthetics of a shooting game, Deer Hunter 2014 provides a different type of gun per region. Each region has its own rifle, shotgun and assault rifle to purchase. Guns can be used in any region, but often a specific gun is best for trophy hunts (the boss hunts) needed to unlock other regions. Trophy hunts aren’t really that much harder than the regular hunts, but they do add more money to the player’s account.

Also worth mentioning: There are different types of hunts included within the game. A player can go on regular hunts, predator hunts and even bird hunts. Each one requires you to think of different strategies to win. This makes for a less-repetitive gaming experience. Another cool feature that I absolutely love is the slow motion aspect that accompanies every final kill. There’s nothing more gratifying (especially during a trophy hunt) to watch your shot hit its mark in epic time lapse.

Overall I would give this game an 8/10. Deer Hunter 2014 is an excellent hunting game with a huge variety in graphics, landscapes and animals. It’s totally addicting. The game is free to download for Android on Google Play and Apple iOS, so it’s available for everyone to enjoy.
