New from HTC: Uh Oh Protection

BreakingModern — Need to replace a screen? Dealing with water damage? Dog ate your phone? HTC has you covered.

According to Bankrate, smartphone users in the United States alone spent more than $23.5 billion to repair or replace damaged smartphones between 2007 and 2014. If you’re one of the millions of smartphone users who has ever cracked a screen, HTC has some great news for you.

“Phones are susceptible to a wide range of uh-ohs: drops, cracks, water damage. We get it. Accidents happen. So at HTC, we thought it was time someone had your back.”

HTC recently launched a brand new service called “Uh Oh Protection.” This is a free service that comes with your purchase of an HTC One M8 or M9 and offers you one free device replacement during the first year if you crack your screen, suffer water damage or if you switch carriers.

If you make it through the first year without using your one-time replacement, you can opt to receive a $100 credit toward the purchase of a new HTC One M9 or a later model.

If you were familiar with the HTC Advantage program, the new Uh Oh Protection doubles the coverage length from six months to a full year and now covers both water and switching carriers in addition to the cracked screen. All it takes is a phone call or online chat with customer service reps at HTC and you’re set.

According to the fine print, this promotion is available to anyone in the U.S. who purchases an HTC One M8 or M9 between April 10 and Aug. 31, 2015. Additional terms and conditions are detailed on the HTC website.
