Thanksgiving Dishes: App Review

BreakingModern — When you’re a kid, Thanksgiving is this wonderful holiday where you go to grandma’s house to see the family and eat a lot of really good food you don’t get to eat any other time during the year. But as you get older, there comes a time when you are expected to participate in the potluck Thanksgiving dinner by bringing a dish.

There is no pressure, you just have to make a dish, on your own, you know, like a responsible adult. Oh, and you have to make sure it is delicious and that it gets to the table at the right time. You can do that, even though you have never done it before — right?

Don’t panic, the Thanksgiving Dishes app from A&A Group is available free to download for Android on Google Play. It’s supported by advertisements, but they don’t get in the way of the recipes, so there are no distractions.

Bountiful Dishes

The Thanksgiving Dishes app includes 29 recipes ranging from simple side dishes to deserts, to the perfect turkey itself. As the man tasked with making our family’s traditional, and famous, Sage Oyster Dressing every Thanksgiving, I can vouch for the quality of these recipes. The app includes some solid traditional, guaranteed to please, can’t miss, dishes. So, whether you’re a seasoned Thanksgiving dinner veteran or just starting out, this handy app is a great resource.

Click on the picture of any recipe listed on the left navigation bar and you’ll be presented with the typical recipe breakdown including required ingredients, preparation time, cooking time and how many people the recipe will serve.

The directions for creating each dish are laid out in a clear and concise manner. Just follow the instructions and your dish should come out presentable, edible and delicious. However, as a precaution, it might be a good idea to try a new recipe once or twice before you present it to your family, or even more problematic, the in-laws.

The Perfect Turkey recipe contained in the app is one of the most traditional recipes for turkey I can remember seeing. If you’re hosting your first Thanksgiving dinner this year, this recipe is just what you need: simple and tasty.

Family Drama

Being asked to bring a dish to Thanksgiving dinner for the first time can be exhilarating, but it can also be a bit nerve-racking. Don’t let the pressure get to you. Follow the recipes found in the free Thanksgiving Dishes app and you, and your pot-luck dish, should do just fine. After all, Thanksgiving is supposed to be about celebrating what you have, not worrying about the dish you bring to the party.
