AKwong: YouTube Weekly Video Roundup

BreakingModern — Hey guys, Alex here for another weekly roundup of outstanding YouTube videos! Now stop what you’re doing, I don’t care if it’s important or due tomorrow, because we have some procrastinating to do. Videos, away!

Pentatonix: “Winter Wonderland” and “Don’t Worry Be Happy”

Video: [Official Video] Winter Wonderland/Don’t Worry Be Happy - Pentatonix (ft Tori Kelly)

Now that Halloween is over, it’s time to get ready for Thanksgiving, right? Wrong! Thanksgiving doesn’t have any catchy tunes (though it does have some great turkey … Mmm …), so the singing group Pentatonix — along with American Idoler, Tori Kelly — are skipping right to the next holiday with their a cappella renditions of “Winter Wonderland” and “Don’t Worry Be Happy.” Trust me, it’s pure ear turkey … I mean candy! I’m hungry.

Did You Know Gaming: Fire Emblem

Video: Fire Emblem - Did You Know Gaming? Feat. BalrogTheMaster

With the Fire Emblem Series making its biggest debut in America with the hit Fire Emblem: Awakening, DYK Gaming tests your knowledge of the game’s ins and outs in its most-recent Did You Know Video Games series. Who’d have thought that the background gibberish in one of the menu screens was actually a quote from Shakespeare, or that the series even had its own anime? You learn something new every day …

The Game Theorists: Call of Duty and Regenerating Health

Video: Game Theory: Defending Call of Duty Advanced Warfare’s Regenerating Health

In the real world, where awesome superpowers like flight and time control are, sadly, things of the imagination, the god-like ability to stop major internal bleeding is totally farfetched, right? Well, in Call of Duty a few deeps breaths stop the blood flow, which sounds crazy, but is actually getting more and more true. MatPat from The Game Theorists shows us how close we are at achieving just that: regeneration of skin, fingers and (in the future) even arms! Be warned though, this video contains lots of editing and unbearable puns.

Vsauce2: Deep Sleep to Mars

Video: Deep Sleep To Mars — Mind Blow #88

In the science-y section of YouTube, Michael from Vsauce2 brings us episode 88 of Mind Blow, a show about awesome and crazy things that are happening and being made right now. Topics range from lemur pee to mind-controlled prosthetic limbs, so you should expect the unexpected. The best part about this show is that, like a good history paper, Vsauce2 cites all their sources with links found in the video description. Now I’ll be right back, I need to watch this video about a killer icicle.

The Slow Mo Guys: Non-Newtonian Fluid in Slow Motion

Video: Non-Newtonian Fluid in Slow Motion - The Slow Mo Guys

Finally, The Slow Mo Guys continue to do what they do best: filming whatever pleases them in (you guessed it) slow motion. Joking aside, today they film a Non-Newtonian fluid bouncing on a speaker, which looks awesome! Now you may be asking, “Alex, please enlighten me about Non-Newtonian fluids,” to which I would promptly answer, “I’d love to, but I only have so much space to write for each video so why don’t you look it up on Wikipedia.” I know, life is hard sometimes, so I gave you the link. Happy? You better be.

Well, that’s all for this week my friends. Stay classy, keep on ‘crastinating professionally, and I’ll see you all next week.

For BMod, I’m Alex Kwong.
