BreakingModern — This video is the definition of Throwback Thursday. It’s the perfect mix of two ’90s hits and a kick of nostalgia that left me in a fit of laughter.
The mash-up, originally posted on YouTube last year by Benjamin Roberts, is a spectacularly catchy video of Dinosaurs’ Earl Sinclair performing “Hypnotize” by The Notorious B.I.G. It’s a perfect lip-sync of Earl rapping to the groovy beats and doing the jiggy with cut footage from the original television show.

It’s one of those moments where you can’t help but recall your childhood. It’s like when you’re walking down the grocery aisles and stumble across a favorite childhood snack, such as Dunk-a-roos, or find your long lost Tamagotchi.
A Little Dino History
For those of you who are less familiar with the show, Dinosaurs is an American family sitcom that originally hit the airwaves in April 1991 on ABC, and finished in July 1994. Portrayed by puppets and their voice actors, the show was about anthropomorphic dinosaurs set in 60,000,003 B.C. in Pangaea.
The humorous Sinclair family consisted of Earl Sinclair (the father and also star of the video), Fran Sinclair, their children Robbie, Charlene and Baby Sinclair and Fran’s mother, Ethyl. The show was known to touch upon topical issues, including environmentalism, endangered species, women’s rights, sexual harassment and objectification of women and civil rights, to name a few. (Spoiler alert: The show itself concluded with the ensuing Ice Age due to the irresponsible actions of the dinosaurs, leading to their demise.)
Though The Notorious B.I.G.’s (a.k.a., Christopher George Latore Wallace) life was cut short due to a drive-by shooting in 1997, his hip-hop beats remain a staple and continue to bring life to a party to this day. Along with “Hypnotize,” The Notorious B.I.G.’s other hits include “Big Poppa” and “Mo Money Mo Problems” with Mase and Puff Daddy.
Whatever the reason, this video continues to resonate amongst those who grew up in the ’90s and remember a time where dinosaurs ruled the airways (Barney, anyone?) and B.I.G. ruled the sound waves.
After all, “Sometimes your words just hypnotize me, and I just love your flashy ways …”
