TGI Black Friday for Android: Daily App Pick

BreakingModern — Whether you’re watching your budget or just love the euphoric feeling of landing a good deal, shopping on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, is for you! It has become an American tradition and it’s a great day to find hot deals that will make everyone on your list happy on Christmas.

It used to be that you had to wait until the Wednesday before Thanksgiving to find out what was on sale on Black Friday. But the Internet has changed all that. These days the gamut of deals are posted online days, even weeks before the shopping extravaganza. Even with the deals available earlier, nobody wants to take the time to visit 10 or 20 websites (let alone physical stores) to compare prices. So the handy TGI Black Friday app was born of that need. There are plenty of apps that sort through the deals, but each year the TGI Black Friday app features the best and most comprehensive listing of sale items. It’s available for Android on Google Play and Apple iOS for free.

The TGI Black Friday app is well-organized and visually appealing. The top of the screen tells you how many days are left until Black Friday, letting you know just how long you have before taking action. This is followed by a comprehensive list that includes text, photos and prices of sale items.

You can start by viewing the most popular deals, at your favorite stores or by category. The categories include everything from appliances and automotive to video games and women’s apparel. If applicable, the app gives you dates when that item will be available. Don’t miss the “Coupons” area, which gives you links to printable coupons. Like normal coupons, many of these have restrictions, but they are worth a look if you have the time.

Whether you start at popular deals, categories or the list of stores, you’ll be presented with plenty of sale items as you drill down the listings. In most cases you can hop right over to the store ad, which gives you a nice visual representation and makes you feel just like you are leafing through those old newspaper ads.

One of the best features of this app is the ability to create a personalized shopping list. Add any item to “My List” and it will appear along with a sum total of the amount you would spend if you purchased everything on the list. I longed for the ability to add notes to my list, but that option is not available — at least, not this year.

TGI Black Friday also lets you compare prices and easily share your favorite deals via email, Twitter and Facebook. It will dutifully alert you to a myriad of sweet deals and, in working up to the big day, you’ll notice more stores, more circulars and more items appearing on the app.

Even avid shopaholics will have plenty to look at in this app. It’s a great prep tool and it might just help you get a handle on the frenzy of Black Friday. With a little bit of snooping, you’ll undoubtedly find the perfect gift at the perfect price.
