Three Top Cocktail Apps

BreakingModern — Whether you’ve been impressed by a really good bartender or you simply want to dazzle your friends with an exciting new drink, there are plenty of apps to help you. Here are three of the best.

Cocktail Apps

Cocktail Flow

From a California Dream to a Moscow Mule, Cocktail Flow, available for free for download from Android, Apple and Windows has a great selection of drink recipes along with detailed instructions. I have to admit that this is by far my favorite. The recipes are excellent and everything is presented in a visually attractive way.

To start, you will want to set up your Bar. In the bar stock area you can add the spirits, liqueurs and mixers that you have on hand. Then you can peruse the cocktail choices.

Cocktail Flow’s categories are a bit unusual, but extremely useful. These include all cocktails, by base (brandy, gin, vodka), by color (green, pink, yellow), and by type (creamy, shooter, tropical) The Shopping area is also a bit unusual. It gives you recommendations for what to purchase and approximate prices. For instance, it will tell you that for about $12 you can buy a new liqueur that will allow you to make five new cocktails and it will list those cocktails.

For 99 cents you can buy premium packages for preparing drinks for special events like Christmas, Valentine’s Day or “The Big Game,” but thankfully, there are no other ads. You can also mark your favorites and if you don’t know what you want to drink, just click on “Surprise me” and you will be presented with a drink you can make from the ingredients you have on hand.

Cocktail App

My Cocktail Bar

My Cocktail Bar is another free app that is available for Android. Like Cocktail Flow, it allows you to mark the items that you have on hand. Unfortunately, it is marred by some aggravating ads like the one shown below. It also has a few pop-up ads. You can purchase a pro version which is ad-free for 99 cents.

The place where My Cocktail Bar excels is its memory. You can view all the possible cocktails you can make with a list of handy ingredients. This will help you discover drinking options beyond your list of favorites.

Cocktail App

How to Make Cocktails

If you want to learn the ins and outs of making a great cocktail, check out the How to make Cocktails app which is free for Android. This app gives you a series of videos that show you exactly what to do. Each video features a different drink. The basics like Manhattan, martini and mojito are covered, as are a few more unusual drinks like the mint julep, watermelon margarita and dark stormy.

How to Make Cocktails has a few ads, but it is a great app for tips and tricks that you may not know about.

So stock up the bar and get ready for company. With these apps you’ll never be at a loss for what to serve.
