It’s a Long and Winding Road to a Ph.D

BreakingModern — Thinking about getting a Ph.D? It sounds amazing, doesn’t it? No job. Lots of deep thought. Hours and hours of intellectual wandering with a huge, impressive title that leads people to call you “doctor” at the end.

But the reality involves a lot more drudgery and enormous, back-breaking expense.

Consider: Tuition costs and fees have outpaced inflation rates in the last 25 years, up by more than eight times — or 440 percent. That’s rough.
